Skoolie Foundation
A nonprofit organization dedicated to serving underserved communities through shelters, hygiene services, food assistance, workforce development, and sustainable community programs across Washington State and beyond.
Our Mission
Skoolie Foundation exists to bridge the gap between survival and stability for underserved communities. Through direct services, innovative programs, and compassionate outreach, we help people move from crisis to self-sufficiency.
Programs & Services
Emergency Shelters
Converted bus shelters providing safe, warm emergency housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Each shelter is self-contained with beds, heating, and basic amenities. Operating across Thurston and Pierce counties in Washington State.
Hygiene Services
Mobile and on-site hygiene stations providing showers, restrooms, and personal care products to those in need. Dignity through cleanliness — serving approximately 20+ individuals per week with hot showers and hygiene kits.
Bags of Hope
Weekly distribution of care packages containing essential items — food, hygiene products, warm clothing, and resource information. Over 2,400 bags distributed and counting. Led by dedicated volunteers who show up rain or shine.
Haircuts for Hope
Free professional haircuts for community members in need. A fresh haircut restores confidence and dignity — essential for job interviews, school, and daily life. Licensed barbers and stylists volunteer their skills to make a difference.
Food Assistance
Hot meals, food distribution, and community kitchen programs providing nutritious food to families and individuals facing food insecurity. Partnering with local food banks, restaurants, and community donors to fight hunger.
Thrift Stores
Community thrift stores in Olympia and Tacoma providing affordable clothing, household items, and essentials. Revenue from thrift operations funds the foundation's programs — creating a sustainable model where shopping supports community services.
Workforce Development
Job training, skills development, and employment support programs. From construction trades to restoration work, we create pathways to employment for community members looking to build careers and achieve financial stability.
Bus Conversions
Converting retired buses into mobile shelters, hygiene stations, and community resource centers. Each converted bus serves as a self-contained unit that can be deployed where need is greatest — bringing services directly to underserved areas.
Women's Empowerment
The Women's Empowerment Center provides safe spaces, resources, and support programs specifically designed to help women overcome barriers, build skills, and achieve independence through mentorship, training, and community support.
